Easter is coming close, and to all of you who want to give a gift that comes from the

heart:

Easter boy

HELP US HELP THE VICTIMS OF FORGOTTEN DISASTERS.

No longer getting the medias' headline attention, they need us more than ever..... Even though you don't hear about it anymore, it doesn't mean that the disaster is "solved". Far from it - hardly anything has been done to help the victims.....

Give an Easter gift this year that will not be put in a cupboard.

Your gift will help more flood victims get roof over their heads through our housing projects, and support our efforts to get vaccination to as many people as possible. People are dying of different diseases as a result of the flood disaster in 2010 and 2011 - diseases that can easily be prevented. We are out there working relentlessly helping these people rebuild their lives.

Help us to help them. Clik here to make a donation

SiteTalk collaborates with The Raindrop Foundation

Sitetalk _raindropOur project in Pakistan, which provides houses and community facilities for over 1000 people in two regions affected by the flood disasters, has now become a reality through a generous donation from SiteTalk. For those of you who are not familiar with SiteTalk, this is a global social community. Read more on www.sitetalk.com. Because of their generous support, we are able to help people that have lost everything. This is a disaster that has become a forgotten disaster, almost as quickly as it happened. When it did not longer get the medias' attention, and when the war against terror flared up again, the victims of the flooding were left suffering. But the members of SiteTalk didn’t forget, and the result is soon to be seen just outside the devastated village of Sujawal in Sindh, Pakistan. This is one of the most affected regions after the flooding in 2010 and 2011.

LATEST UPDATE FROM THE FIELD!

Discussing _with _locals

The Raindrop Foundation field team in Pakistan is now getting ready to get their hands dirty before they can raise the first shelters... A land area of 200
x 100 meters needs to be elevated to avoid problems with the coming floods. The shelters are securing flood victims roof over their head, and are stable housing solutions that are built to last.

SHELTER VILLAGE – SUJAWAL

The project involves some 70 shelters and a community center. 70 famillies have already been identified. Most of them are families of 8 people. We have already identified that the next phase will be to raise a school here......

SHELTER VILLAGE – SWAT

In the Swat valley we are raising 20 shelters and a community center. Shelters that will provide housing for many people who lost everything in the last flood disaster.

SHELTER PROJECT IN PAKISTAN

Site _preparingThe Raindrop Foundation's biggest project at the moment is building a whole community of shelters for flood victims in Pakistan. Where others follow the headlines, we work with the "forgotten disasters". The flood victims have nothing, and now they are not in the "news" anymore. They need our help more than ever!

Around 5 million people live in flood affected areas. After last year's flood, not much has been done - and large parts of the affected land is still under water. The field team reports that they see water ponds created by the flood - with fish in them!

The UN estimated that the flood distaster in Pakistan requires between 300 and 400 million dollars. The international community has only contributed some 10% of this.

These people have nothing, and it is urgent to get roofs over their head so that they can survive coming floods.

This disaster has left the news headlines a long time ago, but we will not pull out. The cameras are turned off - and the real work has started....

About Jan Eggum:
Jan Eggum (born on 8 December 1951 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter who has been active since 1975. He is often characterized as a "face for the melancholy", and the themes in his songs are often broken hearts, loneliness and sorrow. Sometimes his lyrics have social criticism, but he also shows more trivial and funny sides of himself.

He started as a pub singer in London, and made his living for two years writing songs in English. One of his most famous songs – "En natt forbi" ("A night is over") – was originally written in English, with the title "Alone, Awake".

Eggum got a record contract in 1975 with the Norwegian record company CBS, and recorded his debut album "Trubadur" that autumn. His breakthrough came after his third release, the album "Heksedans" from 1977. This album gave him the Norwegian awardSpellemannsprisen, and on this album has such classics as "Mor, jeg vil tilbake".

Since this, Eggum has been one of Norway's most well known artists, both as a solo artist and with others. An example of the latter is his membership in Gitarkameratene with fellow guitarists Lillebjørn Nilsen, Øystein Sunde and Halvdan Sivertsen.
